Anthony Drewe
New Songs and Additional Lyrics
With composer George Stiles, Anthony has written the book and lyrics for Honk!, Just So and Tutankhamun, as well as the lyrics for Peter Pan - A Musical Adventure, with a book by Willis Hall. With composer Tony Hatch, he wrote lyrics for The Card and, with Singaporean composer Dick Lee, the lyrics for A Twist of Fate.
Awards include the 2000 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical (Honk!), The Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Musical Production (Honk!) and the FNB Vita Award for Best Musical (Honk!), two top prizes at the 1996 Musical of the Year Awards (Peter Pan), the Straits Times Award for Best Musical (A Twist of Fate), and the first ever Vivian Ellis Prize (Just So).
Work as a director includes Snoopy (Watermill Theatre), Honk! (South Africa, Chicago, Tokyo and Singapore) and Just So (North Shore Music Theatre, Massachussetts, and Chichester Festival Theatre).
As a performer recent work includes Rogues to Riches (Watermill Theatre), The Three Musketeers (Danish tour) and A Twist of Fate (Singapore).
In addition, during his 23-year writing collaboration with George Stiles, Anthony has written numerous cabaret songs which have been performed in many TV, radio and theatre shows including Stiles and Drewe - Warts and All, New Faces, Gas Street, The Shakespeare Revue and Dame Edna Everage's Look at Me When I'm Talking to You.
Stiles and Drewe are currently working on their new musical, Soho Cinders.
Anthony is a founder member and now sits on the board of Mercury Musical Developments, a charitable organisation that promotes new musical theatre writing in the UK.
